Description

I found another baby bird in my yard the other day. This time it was in the back under a lounge chair. The mom was protecting it, but let me put it in the hedge. I saw her feeding it worms and hear it peeping so I know it is still doing okay. Lisa is holding it here for us. View full size for maximum fuzziness! :) (EDIT: Yes, I believe this is a Mocking Bird)

There are few babies in this world that are as ugly as baby birds, lol. I don't know why, but I get the impression this may be a Mocking Bird. Do you know the species? I have had little success with saving baby birds this young which have fallen out of their nests but it has worked out OK a few times so what else can one do. It is a good sign that the parents are feeding it, now you have to hope that predators don't find it. I wish this baby well and I applaud your efforts. Thanks for sharing this nice capture. Lee

Good that you could rescue the baby bird. I read somewhere that it is okay to place a fallen baby back into the nest, if you can find it. I hope the parents keep up the good work of feeding it. Excellent image. ;c)

I have to agree with Leeco, they are ungainly and awkward looking when young. Amazing that they turn into such graceful and beautiful creatures. Good luck with them : )

Awww, a face only a mother could love! ;O) I'm a bird person, so I think they're lovely too- fuzz and all! Baby mockingbirds are awfully cute and they are quite tolerant of us humans... Great find!

What a gorgeous capture, and touching too! I'm probably one of the few people around who thinks that baby birds are adorable! I mean, they're cute in a way that defies cuddling, but it's cute nonetheless. I'm glad to know that this little chick is doing okay. Such a marvelous shot. And isn't it amazing how light baby birds are? For as much as they eat, you'd think they weigh more!

I find the image beautiful. But then I find nothing in the animal kingdom unsightly or ugly. Well done indeed for coming to the aid of this baby bird and thank you so much for sharing. ^=^
