A COMMNENTARY
Nezumi Kozou (鼠小僧) is the nickname of Nakamura Jirokichi (仲村次郎吉 1797 - 1831), a Japanese thief and folk hero who lived in Edo (present-day Tokyo) during the Edo period.
Nezumi Kozou Nezumi is the Japanese word for "rat"; a kozou was a young errand-boy who worked in a shop in the Edo period. The nickname can thus be roughly translated as "rat boy". Since a nickname containing the term kozou was often given to pickpockets, who were often youngs boys and girls since the profession required nimble fingers, it has been suggested that Jirokichi was a well known pickpocket when he was younger.

Nezumi Kosou is the thief like Robin Hood. He stool money from rich evil merchant, and give it poor good people in his regend.
This story is his imaginary story.

ONNA means female in Japanese.
So, It is HER story.

鼠小僧は、江戸時代の江戸（現代の東京）に実在した日本の盗賊で民衆のヒーロー仲村次郎吉(1797-1831) の仇名です。
鼠小僧 鼠はねずみ、小僧は江戸時代の商家で働く使い少年のことです。直訳すれば鼠少年になります。小僧は、素早い指が必要とされるため若い男女だったスリにしばしばつけられた仇名でもあります。そのことから次郎吉は若かったころスリであったと推測されています。

鼠小僧は、ロビンフッドのような盗賊で、悪徳商人から金銭を盗み、貧しい善良な人々に与えたという伝説があります。
この物語は、架空の彼の物語です。
しかし、彼の ではありません。
題名は おんな ねずみ小僧
おんな は、日本語で女性を意味します。
これは 彼女の物語。
お芝居の幕が上がります。

Nice image but I personally would have liked to see the kanji placed in the empty space in the left. That way it doesn't obscure the character. Request? After this, how about a series on Miyamoto Musashi? :)

Interesting! Several years ago, there was a comic book series titled "The Way of the Rat"; a story about a young thief who becomes the downfall of a wicked warlord. The creators must have been inspired by the legend.
