Description

These are the blooms of a Mimosa Tree (also known as a silk tree. The blooms are numerous and very colorful. The trees are open branched and graceful. Unfortunately the trees are also short lived and considered a nuisance by many because of the falling blooms. Thanks to those who take the time to comment. Lee

Great shot. Depth of field and lighting are masterful. Perfectly captured the delicacy of the bloom.

30 years ago, I had one in my front yard that was nearly 20 years old, very large and spreading, and when it bloomed it was a symphony from mother nature. I didn't mind the blossoms dropping but like the bottlebrush, it collected bees while it was in bloom and I had hundreds of baby trees popping up all over the yard. Loved the tree so much, I bought one through the historic tree association just 3 years ago. It is a descendant of Hellen Keller's Mimosa and I love having a piece of history standing in my yard.
