All's I gotta say is that your grandson is one lucky little fella to have someone do this incredible job for him. And then to paint over it ... my goodness.

Holy cow...I had no idea you did this type of work as well. I guess I didn't know the extent of your background. The fantasy element is no surprise to anyone who's seen your digital work, but wall murals, large cartoon animals? Just wonderful. I've always marveled at fine hand-cartooning, because it seems all about 'essences': You don't really do lots of line work, you capture essential lines, essential outlines, essential gestures, etc. And having done that, you have to infuse this element of dance, play, making everything a littttttle bigger than life so it talks to the child in all of us, and is filled with delight and play. Wonderful how you got all that, and with a sense of total ease. And on a wall, yet! I've never painted this big, never; and while I've cartooned, mine are primitive silly little things; but these are whole & professional & expressive, showing a knowledge of each animal's makeup, and that you can pare away the non-essentials & get a true cartoon from it all, and with joy, simplicity & grace. I love the motion between the rabbit and somewhat reluctant (pulled) tiger, the droop of the donkey (yes? the one in the air, lol? I'm not great on animal species!) and the bird next to it, in that typically shrugging-in-air pose we saw in so many animations (it's wonderfully done); and those typically flat colors (little shading/modeling) chosen for vividness and eye-grab; and of course the jazzy improvised background, which has a genuine life of its own. This is marvelous, I am so impressed. And I'd love to see the finished result. I'm only doing one image per gallery today, it's all I can do right now; but I hope to be back in the next week or so; and I'm so sorry I missed your work this long. It's terrific Bob, it was just great to come back and find this." Cwazy Wabbit!" (And the pooh-like bear & child are wonderful too! If this is based on a children's book, I don't know it; but it doesn't matter: It's a terrific mural anyway.) A real delight.
