Here is Karl Guess' name scratched into the interior of the rear helmet flange. Still readable after all these years. Images like these bring us closer to those who fought in battles long ago. Herr Guess' name is known to us. We might not have a photograph of him, but his place in history means a little bit more to we who look at his name, here. Thank you for looking. a fine tribute in a way to the unknown soldier. me of course in spackoland would have called him Karl Schmutz,and posed a soldier only wearing a helmet muahahah. greeting from spain to oregon.(i was almost writing ohio again stupid me lol)
