What kind of animal? Those underground workers are difficult to tell apart, when you don't see the entire animal. Good picture.

It appears to be one of the varieties of prairie dog. There are several from very large to very small and they all have fine features. No matter, the profile is outstanding and there is a tenderness in the facial expression. Nice shot.
