Brad Pitt and I share the exact same birthday (month, day, year) outside of that, our stories diverge considerably. Mr. Pitt went on to become an internationally famous superstar, while I have led the much more interesting life of the starving artist. I come from a long line of storytellers (whose gift for gab stretches back through the mists of time to our native Ireland) and professional malcontents who were seemingly born to create something in the arts, be it music, writing, sculpture, painting, or photography. I started writing at age 12 with a screenplay with my cousin Ryan about a planet where everyone looked like Elton John entitled "Don't I Know You?" More screenplays followed, several of which received epic Super-8 production with budgets that sometimes ran up to $10. A few even had sound!  More writing followed: songs, poems, short stories, numerous unfinished novels, etc.. Somewhere in there was an attempt at being a rock star...
Still living at home, at age 22, my father dropped an elderly Nikromatt 35-mm film camera into my lap, in the hopes that I would "make a go of it" as a photojournalist. That didn't happen, but I did develop an abiding love of photography that along with writing and archival work have been among the chief passions of my life. When it comes to my photography, I try to be as creative as possible while at the same time striving for a documentary/archival quality. The only set rules I adhere to, when it comes to making pictures are: 1.) Try not to make the picture blurry, and 2.) Don't drop the camera.

Good one mate. Well spotted. Whomever is responsible, be sure that the lawyers will take their cut!

Nice to see the city of Chicago is keeping on top of things! I'm sure the above mentioned miscreants will be getting notices to appear in court and explain their willful destruction of city property. I doubt they'll get much on Rain though. I've heard he's a pretty slippery customer. Great eye and capture!
Faemike55
yeah and you can't fool Mother Nature either, and rust is flakey Great capture

This is priceless. It's kinda hard to determine who exactly is responsible for this. I mean, it looks like the end result of a kind of gangland conspiracy, rust and rain are definitely in on it, and they've probably got the best lawyers too. Hey wait, this is an underpass, viaduct thingy? Well, knowing what happens to certain underpasses around this-here-fine-city, maybe the Virgin Mary is responsible; she's been known to deface Chicago municipal property before. This doesn't look like her typical MO however, so I suspect somebody else is gonna take the rap. Great shot.

Next they will say "Trespassers will be violated!"

Marvellous!!!

Yikes... I love signs like this! Reminds me of a sign I saw on someone's front gate reading: "Trespassers will be shot!"... so very South Africa!

Here in Italy the owner of the building is the guilty. Fabulous shot!

LOL! I'm SURE someone can be blamed. The construction company who allowed a joint gap just in that spot? The people who hung the sign where it was bound to be defaced? Surely there's SOMEone responsible for this travesty! :D I love your sense of the absurd, my friend. Well seen!
