Description

Vue 8 Pro, Photoshop, Hex 2.5 “Dedicated to all who serve and to those who never stopped.” I attempted a similar image 7 years ago.

I took into account all the great feedback I got from it. I have wanted to have another go at this for a long time but I wanted to do it justice this time around. No ghosts or people just the monument this time. Best viewed in Full Size. "Building The Wall" The Wall, lights and all props are models I made in Hex and exported to Vue where I created a texture map for the names on the wall and the flag. I applied the map to the color channel, bump and reflection channels. I then copy and pasted the first section of the wall then hit “Repeat operation extrapolate” by about 40 instances. I did the same for the lights. The sidewalk is a texture from "cgtextures.com"applied to a square primitive. To save time, the cards were rendered blank then I found some free clip art online and scaled and tweaked them to match the card faces. After this they were overlaid and blended in, the letters on the ledge are hand painted. The trees are ecosystems and are all along the wall and into the distance. I decided to go with hand painted clouds on this one, that would be Deviney’s fog playing the part of the two clouds. The lights were given a glow in photoshop, sky darkened toward the top and the Washington Monument placed in the distance, it’s just a simple square extruded and pointed at the top, no fancy materials applied to it at all, just a dull white. All the names are from a random name generator, so if you see yours, it’s complete coincidence. It's still not an exact replica of the wall, but I think it's recognizable enough.
