Description

This morning BP has announced that their latest effort to stop the oil leak in the Golf of Mexico has failed. So what's next? How can this disaster be stopped? There has been suggestions from using pushing a big air bag into the well to using a bomb to stop the flow. When ever and how ever it's done it will effect all of us world wide for years to come. If anybody has any suggestions contact BP and tell them because their engineers have just about run out of ideas. Thank you for looking and for your comments.

excellent image. Well, usually a gusher goes on for few month then the pressure slows down and you must pump the oil. I suspect (maybe because we, the Italians, are very Machiavellians) that the BP is "waiting" for this gusher to stop. In the meanwhile they are messing around in order to avoid the worse of the litigations. I think that they are panicking so they are trying to close the hole, but failures make things wrose. In Hydrodynamics at equal speed/flow smaller holes mean higher pressures. The more they are half closing the hole, the more the pressure rises blowing away the "cork". It would seem odd, but I will "enlarge" the hole (blasting it). This way the pressure will down and the cork will stay at its place.

It will close by itself once the oil pressure, that is huge, becomes smaller than the pressure of water at the sea floor that is big, but...., it can take years... Another way is to explode the well and continue to put charges until the spill stops, but..., BP and their investors will have lost billions of the well construction and the expected future profit from the extracted oil, nothing good for Wall Street and so, they won't do it unless you bailout them and pay with your money their expenses and lost profit....

Put a small nuclear device on the bottom of the ocean and blow it up. Like used to be done in the old days of underwater nuclear testings.

Sorry about the oil spill. The Gulf is so vulnerable. I hope it can be stopped, but already it's a catastrophe. Nice fractal. Very evocative, nostalgic.
