you probably know the famous story in Sifre or Sifra (and it's also in the Talmud, I believe): Two people in a desert with just enough water between them, that if one drinks, he will live & the other pass on. But if they both drink, neither will live. What do they do, asks the text. Ben Petura answers, 'let them both drink, because to be together in brotherhood is greater than life itself' But R. Akiba (the great humanist) answers: 'Let one drink & one pass, because life itself is too precious'. Our teacher said to us: "When the survivor of the two comes to civilization, he now lives for both of them. That's what we all do---live for all those who have passed before us. The water has been passed on to us..." I am deeply sorry for your losses, it's a terrible number of dear ones to lose in a few short years. My wishes are with their souls & with yours. You made a very open image of almost biblical intensity, and it feels like the beginning of the world. The mountains in the background lead to that beautiful sun---a mere 'dot', but with the power to light the whole universe. And your light is quite beautiful. I am very sorry for your great losses and wish you peace & light; and may their souls shine in you always.

I am saddened by the staggering losses you have/are enduring - yet gladdened that your spirit is strong and you are able to create such beauty still. Thank you for this most lovely image and for sharing with us in this way some of the beauty of your family members -for they gave to you and now you bring them to life for us :)
