Description

This has been the months of March, April, and May--mostly the weekends (some weeknights) and mostly May on the hall and video room projects. The family room used to have a wood burning stove in it. At one point, they pulled the stove, but left the hole in the ceiling and the brick hearth it sat on. Finally got the bricks up, the ceiling dealt, with (temporarily), and laid some left over click-lock flooring where the bricks used to be. amily room is still rough, but better than it used t be, so I'll hold those pics until when I get it finished. Been working on the sliding bookcase off and on for a while. They left a dead space between the fireplace and the outer wall when they built the house. Paula wondered if there was something we could do with it so I came up with a set of bookcases at either end that were movable. I need to finish trimming out the north end and a construct hidden switch to lock and unlock it. Need to also finish leveling the floor and install the last section of flooring (work on the south end was suspended by the rest of the projects Paula wanted done first on this e-mail). We also had the space off of the furnace room where we had dumped videos and overflow storage. In the end we took some discarded video shelves from a video store going out of business and modified them to work in the extra space, including cutting one 4'x8' until down to fit under the stairway and using left over pieces to fill in other small cubby spaces (There are a few movies in there). I used one of the recovered 4'x8' video shelf units for the hidden access by cutting it in half, taking it apart, and rebuilding it to fit in the walkthrough space. We're taking the rest of the space on the far corner away from the furnace wall to build out a wine cellar. Paula has a design she wants and I get to build it. (GRIN) Finally, took off the popcorn ceiling, pulled the ugly green 70s rug, and repainted the hallway (picked out the replacement light fixtures Sunday-they come in on Tuesday) and laid the bamboo flooring.
