Description

A while back, well, 17 May to be precise, I set myself a personal challenge to produce a photo a day for a year and to share them on my website and other locations on the web. It has been a very productive challenge. Today, being a public holiday, I took my family to the zoo and saw this melancholy fellow.

He's quite dignified. It's amazing that they are so closely related, only about 3% of our genetic structure differs from theirs. 3% makes such a difference though. I love the challenge you set up for yourself, and I also love the result of your trip to the zoo. All too often we see cimpanzees presented as something other than what they are, and here, you've captured the natural dignity of so complicated a creature. Marvelous work.
