Description

The Vietnam Soldier By Bill Poulin The jungle air was filled with smoke As we prepared no one spoke We hugged the ground As the bombs exploded all around I saw you stand You looked so grand I heard you yell but what you said I could not tell Then I saw you fall You my friend had given your all When The battle we had won I saw you were not the only one Many lives we lost that day To protect the American way When home we came The people looked at us in shame There would be no hoorays Or parades this day Our uniforms we quickly shed As people looked at us with dread Then came the wall It made me feel so small Your name I read As my tears I shed Each day your name I speak As into my mind your memory does creep It happened all so sudden But you my friend Are not forgotten This poem may not be used or copied without the written permission of the author

Great tribute to those who should not have suffered what they did when they returned, this was a black eye for Americans who should have welcomed them home with open arms. My brother was also a Vietnam Vet.

I lost friends in that war. Those who have suffered the trauma of loss never forget. Anything can spark the memory. Thank you for the memorial and the tribute.

Bill, I was in the Army then, Vietnam era veteran, but the closest I ever came was in Korea and Germany drinking a brew or two, My brother was in the Nam(3 tours), I lost many dear friends to the war! some paid the price with the body others paid with the mind. No matter you feel about Vietnam is still has impact on many lives. May the many still be alive in memories and in reverence. -Paul

OMG, how emotional is that !!, superb work both in text and the image to illustrate it..perhaps more should read it and see how useless war really is.more importantly how people should support all our troops past, present and future, without their sacrifice where would we be now i wonder?.
