On Aviation and Photography:
"You haven't seen a tree until you've seen its shadow from the sky." -- Amelia Earhart
“You don't take a photograph, you make it.” - - Ansel Adams
UPDATED: September 19, 2010
Hi, My name is Bill and I am updating my homepage to reflect a wonderful event in my life...marriage, September 18, 2010, to my best friend Tara...known to many of you as auntietk here on Renderosity.
We "met" shortly after I joined Renderosity in August 2008. We share a love for photography and indeed all types of art.
We live north of Seattle and enjoy getting to share photographic excursions and information with other Renderositians ( is "Renderositians" even a word? ). LOL
As for me, it seems like I've been taking pictures all my life but I didn't get serious enough to purchase my first Digital Single Lens Reflex (DSLR) camera until May 2008. In May 2009 I upgraded from an Olympus E-510 to an Olympus E-30 with a wide variety of lenses.
My subject areas of interest include absolutely everything but with a frequent return to airplanes, cars, tanks, etc., ...or as Tara says, machines that make lots of noise;-)
If you are curious, I am pictured above in a Grumman Corsair on a taxiway of the Kansas City Downtown Airport. I used to fly and train others to fly airplanes. That will explain my frequent forays into the world of aviation. Last but by no means least, thanks to Pannyhb for introducing me to Renderosity. The moment I saw it I was hooked.
Fine print: Yes, the photo above is a photo manipulation:-)

Wonderful image. In our town we used to have, as the main centre, what was known as the Corn Exchange where the farming community did their wheeling and dealing.

Isn't it amazing what you see on a long drive through the heartland? I'll never forget the white leather sofa sitting out in the middle of the salt flats in ?Utah? ?Nevada? (someplace where there isn't much of anything else!) Or the "tree" sculpture in the same general vicinity... Great capture of this piece of americana!

Oh gosh, I thought for sure you were going to say this was BUILT of corn and I had this very clever, witty comment all ready. Now I can't think of a thing except, nice shot, Bill!!

You just have to stop when something like this hoves in to view!

I think we saw this on TV a few months ago. It is amazing they would go through all of this to invite folks to come, but you cannot beat success. ;c) Excellent image of it.

I love this! Good old Americanna at it's best. My family used to take endless car trips all over the place back in the Seventies and we'd see great things like this all this all the time. I thought all this stuff had been plowed under by shopping malls by now and it's wonderful to see that some of it is still alive and well. Have you ever seen the giant Paul Bunyan (sp)statue in Brainerd, Minnesota? The humungous jackrabbit somewhere in Texas. The 100 foot tall Mickey Mouse in Orlando that requires its own substation to be lit up at night. Then there's the big plaster cougar outside Crossroads Lincoln-Mercury in Indianapolis... I'm going to shut up now. Great capture and a lot of fun.

Lovely shot of this unusual building and work of art Bill.. Its kinda corny if you ask me, but whatever brings in the dollars I guess. Here their are a number of places that have corn mazes and one of them have a night session where there are people dressed as ghosts and vamps etc..
Kaartijer
A very interesting place, the shot is awesome!
