Description
This is one of the reasons I love Dartmoor so much. The entire moor is a complete bubble of history.
This is Postbridge, a teeny little place between Moretonhamstead and Two Bridges, almost in the centre of Dartmoor. The only buildings here are a shop, an inn and an information centre within a small car park. You will find no commercialism hereabouts!
What is here, though, is history! To the right of the image is a Clapper Bridge, one of the finest in the country. Built in the 1780's from 4 granite slabs that weigh around 8 tons each, it spans the East Dart River and anyone with a soul can stand on it and feel the thrill of history coursing through them. Leastways, that is the effect it has on me....but perhaps I am just a little peculiar! ^=^
Thank you for taking the time to look. ^=^

I get those feelings when I'm in the Sierras here. So much history, so many lives that have touched the earth where I stand, so many faces finding the views of the mountains and valleys for the first time - just as I do as I gaze out over the tops of the redwoods from my spot above the treeline. Fantastic mood here and wonderful composition.

The brige on the left looks a bit more up to date :) I enjoy zooming between them - very intersting for a foringer !
