Description
Solo sighed. Picking up the remote he started the holo back to where the group first left the house next to the battle site and froze it. "What do you see?"
Leia slapped his hand. "Just tell us. It's obvious we're slower than you."
"See him with the woman there? If that man is not totally head over heels in love with her, I'll kiss a Wookiee. And yes chewy, I know your sister would gladly let me!" Han said with a grin. "See how he looks at all of them?" Raising the remote again he then proceded to a shot of Kirk with the kids. "Look at how he treats them. like his kid brother and sister. The same with the two older ones. Now we speed to his reaction to seeing those Klingons. It's obvious he was very happy to see them."
"And what does all this mean O wise one?" Luke asked.
"Love of family and friends. That is what motivates him. See the pain and joy on his face? I don't think he was expecting to see them. Or at least not that many. And you saw what he went through to get those four out of that lockup on Doroub."
Luke nodded. "Well, it's not money, according to Merrik Doon. Remember all that really nice new music you bought the other day?"
Han nodded.
"Magenta Montal owns the company that sells it. That was her with Kirk and his woman. And the woman is Peenk Montal."
"Talk about hitting the jack pot!" Han said. Leia dug her elbow into his side. "Her entertainment company has come out with some new, unknown music that has wiped out everyone else. We bought up the entire library ourselves like Luke said. What does that have to do with Kirk though?"
"He's the one she got the music from. It's ancient music from his home world. And every credit he gets is divvied up equally between himself, those Klingons and the crew of the Excalibur, the ship that kidnapped him. So no, money is not a motivating factor for him."
"Then let's add honor to the list," Han added after thinking for a second. "He feels responsible for the predicament these people are in, so he's trying to make amends.
The others agreed.
"What about power?" Luke's sister asked. "He was an ambassador. And a rather young one, too."
"Oh, he was much more than that. The Klingon Emperor rewarded him with his own title in the Empire for his heroism during this war he fought in. He leads one of their great houses. Has his own fleet of war ships, complete with Klingon crews. Crews that are loyal to the death."
Han Solo rolled his eyes. "Talk about your conflicts of interests! I wonder who he would side with if his Federation and his Empire went to war?"
"We'll never know. According to Doon, he has no intention of going back permanently. He's staying here. With his new family as he calls them. He only wants to go back and get his daughter, and bring her back here. So you're right. Love and honor is what motivates him."
Han Solo stood up and bowed.
Han sat looking at the holo of Kirk singing with his friends, "He's one of a kind."
"Not according to the advisor the president hired from Excalibur's crew." Leia said. "He says there are a billion others just like him back where he's from, if not more. They are the result of centuries of genetic engineering and tweaking."
"I have one question for you, Luke," Han asked. "Just where the hell is this Federation and Klingon Empire? I've never heard of either one."
Luke turned to Han and smiled. "That's because they are seventy four million lightyears away."
Han's head jerked up at that. "This is about that wormhole the Republic is trying to open, Right?"
"Right."
"What are they hoping to find?" Han pondered. "New weapons, and tech?"
"Not their weapons." Leia said. "From what I've read about their ships, they are underpowered, to the point of being laughable. They don't have a hyper drive. But they do have a faster than light drive. But their medical tech is so far in advance of what we have, it's incredible."
