Born in Bucharest, Romania, from a German mother and a half Austrian/half Romanian father. My passion since I was a little boy was the photography. During the high school years I created my own photo lab, but lately I've I had to give up on it. Years later (mid 90's) I started all over again, working on photography, of course, just for fun. Since then, I've changed lots of cameras, about 5 of 35mm and if I'm not mistaken, over 10 digital ones. Right now I'm using an Olympus E-volt 500, and I'm pretty happy with it, but soon I'll have to get one more professional than this E-volt, and I think that will be a Canon. Due to my job, I had the chance to visit many and beautiful places across the U.S. and Canada, taking pictures of all those beauties, and here, on this page, as well as on my blog, I'll try to share some of them, as well as pictures from some European countries. Hope you gonna like 'em!  You can find me on Facebook at https://www.facebook.com/kaartijer Have a wonderful day! Love y'all! 10.24.08    Updated today, Jan 20, 2010 Meanwhile, as I planned, I bought a Canon... it was a really good deal at Sam's Club, the camera (10 MP), two lenses (14-45 mm and 70-300 mm), a large Canon case, memory card, etc., and all of these for only $650... oh well, I took about 100 shot and none of 'em was a good one.... so for now I gonna stick with Olympus, a camera that I love more and more!  Â

Yep, lots of wild names in Texas, I always get a kick out of the place between Dallas and Ft Worth it's just "Plano" Texas. Here's a tidbit about the states namesake Texas City TX Texas City has often referred to itself as "the town that would not die,". in April, 1947, two ships in the Deep Water Port, containing ammonium nitrate fertilizer exploded in what is generally regarded as the worst industrial accident in U.S. history and other than The Nuclear tests in New Mexico and Nevada the Largest Explosion on U. S. soil. The disaster killed 581 and injured over 5000 people. The explosions were so powerful and intense that many of the bodies of the emergency workers who responded to the initial explosion were never accounted for. School children and townspeople who were attracted to the smoke also died and entire blocks of homes near the port were destroyed. People in Galveston 14 miles away were knocked to their knees. Surrounding chemical and oil tanks and refineries were ignited by the blast. At least 63 who died and were not able to be identified are memorialized in a cemetary in the north part of town. The Texas City disaster is widely regarded as the foundation of disaster planning for the United States.

Willie Nelson used to live in Muleshoe... I had a friend, cousin to Charlie Pride, who used to visit Willie there for informal jam sessions in his earlier years. I loved the stories he told about the country singers who would drop in for the weekend - including that coal miner's daughter, Loretta Lynn.
