Description

Today a butterfly at first glance, appears similar to the one posted above. I confess that it is not easy to determine which type might be. In this case I found on the website own the copyright on the same leaf of the photo. Pieris manni MAYER, 1851, is a moth of the family Pieridae. It is similar to cabbage minor, from which it differs in that the apical dark band on top of the front extends down to at least the fourth rib. The post-discal spots present in s3 of the upper parts, have a semicircular shape and never move, and females, especially in summer generations, the post-discal spots appear to be linked to the margin thin dark stripes. In general, summer generations have a wingspan greater than the spring, as well as larger dark designs. Eggs Are found from April to October. Larva The caterpillars are greenish, dotted with yellow stripes. Are present all year, so the species can hibernate in this stage during winter. Pupa The pupae are whitish and succinct, too, such as caterpillars, are found all year, so the baby to one of the two phases which exceed Pieris manni linverno into hibernation. Distribution and habitats [edit] Palaearctic species, with range that extends from the Iberian Peninsula (including Pyrenees) Eastern Europe (especially the Balkan Peninsula). It goes north to the outskirts of Paris. Also present in Morocco, Czech Republic threatened, vulnerable and protected in Hungary. It is widespread throughout mainland Italy and Sicily, absent from Corsica and Sardinia. The species is found in wastelands and sunny, up to 1600 meters (1500 feet in Italy). Good day and good weekend Thanks for the comments and the favourites of previous image

Italy has such pretty butterflies. When I was young we had butterflies where I live. No more. Thank you for these images.

Ben cotto. Maybe I don't get out much, but I'm sure we don't have as many butterflies and we definitely do not as many lovely butterflies as you have in Italy. Perhaps, you are the butterfly hunter extraordinaire. Another fine beauty Mario. Well done.
