Description

Captured 10/18/09, at the beautiful Orchid Show held in the beautiful Huntington Botanical Center and Conservatory in beautiful San Marino, California. Be sure and view it full size. Indoor tripod-mounted photo using no flash. Just one of 150 orchid pics I had to agonizingly choose from. Decisions, decisions. And that doesn't even include the beautiful bunch I have from the beautiful Quail Botanic Gardens in beautiful Encinitas, California. Ciao, thankx for the peek, and for any and all complimentary comments and faves.

Oh my goodness, this flower is just so beautiful! Way to go Harry...How many angles of each one (you said you took 150) did you take? I can never decide which place to stand, if I want it close up or full view...thus why I end up with sooo many to...sort through after. lol

Yes, this is a milestone, because it's 1400 at one per day, including so many subjects & so many styles & montages & single images and your always ever-alert explorations of everything around you---ie, without shunning this or that subject because it's not as "pretty" or photogenic as some others: You seek, study, and revel in seeing, period, and that's a reason to celebrate yet another milestone. The image is beautiful not only for the flower-capture, which exhibits a lot of this highly mysterious specie of flower; but because of the complex & beautiful composition, with those flowers to the side & that bud sticking up at top. Another reason why I've said you have a sense of the abstract: In painting terms, this is a wonderful combination of shapes & textures. And because you have music in the branches that lace the edges & background; and because the background itself is a luminous backdrop (fine greens & yellows to balance out the violets of the orchid). And because you included that glass bowl or terrarium, upper left, which is a wonderful visual accent; as well as more brown to balance out the greens and violets of the rest. A very active & musical shot; and to me a beautiful flower-capture. Congratulations Harry. it's a beauty. And fitting for 1400 images. I'm doing only one image per gallery today, so I can see everyone before I'm away from the net again. But I hope to be back again this week. Beautiful piece, among many...
