My First Painting
My interest in art began in 1996 and got more serious in 1998, when I did an online tutorial by Al Dawson, learning computer 2d painting. (see painting .. lol) After playing with that for a while my interests then turned towards 3d art and I bought Bryce 2, just to see, if indeed, it was the direction I was leaning. I became addicted and purchased Bryce 4, which was the current release of the program at the time.
I dabbled a bit with Poser 4, just to have the ability to get some 'human' element into some of my renders. I found the software and the interface so frustrating that my interest in it never really peaked. I also upgraded to P5 and then to P6, but still found the software too frustrating for my tastes. I admire the artists who do such great work with Poser, but just found it to not be my 'cup of tea' .. so to speak.
I am a retired person so am able to devote a large amount of time doing what I love most. Art has become a very important part of my life, sometimes frustrating, but eventually rewarding. Some of it mediocre, some that I like very much and a lot that remains unfinished. I do most of my art work during the winter months as I spend a lot of time outdoors during the summer.
My main current art tools include Bryce 6.1, Photoshop 6 (an old version, I know, but it works for me) and a little bit of Poser 6.
I love all kinds of music, always have and find it so inspiring when doing art. Whether it be instrumental, lyrics or both.
Favorite current music/artists:
1) Would have to be anything by Barbra Streisand. Long time fan of her's since her beginning. 60's? Dating myself.
2) Andrea Bocelli .. favorite dvd/cd "Under The Desert Sky"
3) Chris Botti .. "Italia" .. haunting trumpet, love his "Nessun Dorma" and most everyone's version of this. Love the entire cd!
Many more, but all for now.
Thanks for reading and all the great comments/views on my images.

I was extremely moved by both your picture and words. For what it's worth, here are my feelings. Nothing can take the place of what once was, and somehow that has to be understood and accepted. But in spite of that, although paths often take us places that initially make no sense, in hindsight new meanings had often been discovered. Our allotted time here is so extremely short, for all of us. Each day is a blank slate. How will we fill it? It really is our choice. When one's assumed path is abruptly changed, it's easy to not notice the beautiful sunsets anymore, or the beauty of a spring shower. Often our vision is restricted to what we cannot see; cannot have. But there's still an amazing world out there, and to those of us living here something is out there for us to discover. But you can't really look for it. Usually it discovers us, and chances are it won’t even be obvious at the time. I've hidden away in my mind before, but as long as there is a path before us, no matter how uncertain, walk it we must. And I recommend sunrises instead of sunsets. They are proof before your very eyes that there will always be a reason to search for "A Brighter Day". Lovely image, I wish you well. marshall

I am very moved by both your sad words and Marshall's response. I can add nothing more to those elegant words. Your picture is lovely and I prefer to think of it as a sunrise and attach your title "A Brighter Day" as I know they will be.

Hello Deanna! How wonderful to see you back after such a long time, I just spoke to Alex about you this morning and here you are!!! A beautiful tribute and work, all of your thoughts are very well seen in your image. Your words touched me deeply, I remember just before you left RR that your husband was ill and not doing well, I remember you were leaving so you could spend more time with him. I stopped by your gallery a few times to see if you had posted and considered writing to you but thought maybe you wouldn't get it. So, while I am saddened by your loss, I am so very excited and happy at your return and I hope that you will be able to draw some strength from your friends here. Welcome back and huge hugs sent your way!
