Description

The Chronicles of Inthandonia Splashdown Maritime records from the Deggian year 852 make several references to the arrival of the Skrellian spaceships as do other historic records from across the Deggian continent. Various accounts agree that the two star ships cut a pair of dazzling swathes across Deggian airspace leaving distinct contrails in the upper atmosphere and creating a series of massive sonic booms in their wake. As the rapidly decelerating vessels sped over the arid expanses of the Great Kizzim desert they suddenly separated with one heading north-west to the Mountains of Inha’sosul and the other continuing eastward to the sea. This eyewitness account was written by an observer on a small fishing dhow and has been translated from the original Bar-Deggian language by Professor Argyle Dongletoot of the Thanian College of Thaumaturgy. According to the log records of the ships Captain…”there was a great crashing of sound in the sky and an enormous oddly shaped object wobbled above the island up-thrusts. It drew a trail of smoke behind it and it was clearly stricken with some manner of dire mechanical malady. It came drifting to a stop above the water before suddenly dropping to the sea. It kicked up a mighty spume and quickly sank”. This happened late on a Wanderers Day afternoon in the archipelago known as The Islands of The Ten Thousand Serenities off the coast of South-western Deggia. Another account of that day reports that “the bay was full of dead fish and we feared to eat them as we knew not what it was that caused them to die”. Other observers described the unusual smoke trail that “stretched across the whole sky even above the very clouds themselves. It made for a most remarkable sunset”. The alien vessel of the Skrellians disappeared beneath the waves and was essentially forgotten for a thousand years until it re-emerged as ‘The Second Ship” at the beginning of the Wizard Wars. ****** Modelled with trueSpace 7.6, rendered with Vue 6 Pro Studio. I love it! Reminds me a little of Roger Dean's Yes covers - that's always good! I pit the crew of the ship when the bow wave hit them...

Masgnificent splash there! Fantastic render and work, and a pleasure to read the tale. I truly enjoy such trips into your imagination, as they always stimulate my own mind and carry it further into the tale. Oh and btw, I like the name of the Professor, lol. ;) Excellent all round!
