Description
When I was a child I used to spend hours playing on this old steam engine. When I went back to photograph it after all these years, health and safety had placed a great whopping fence around it! A member of the adjacent football club told me that they used to paint it regularly to stop the rust from setting in, but can no longer gain access to it. Hence all the rust!!!
Congrats to Rob (debbielove) for guessing what it was from my previous close-up posts.

The fence makes me sick!!! They are not everywhere yet but the H&S types keep encrouching. I have a favorite old steam engine in a park in the same condition for the same reason. Here, it may be towns protecting themselves from lawsuits. Blankety, blank lawyers...

Thanks.. Though, I have to say I only got it because we to, used to have one in our playing field! Used to play on it...etc etc! Then, along came the money men...(and that is ALL it is... money) and in a very short space of time, the engine was gone.. Never seen or heard of again... It sickens me, that people in offices, that never get their hands dirty, know bugger all about what they are decreeing blanket laws over, get away with this.. And they are paid MASSIVE amounts of PUBLIC money to do this.. They almost stopped one of the biggest air shows in Europe last year (Legends).. I could moan and groan forever! Sorry.. It just sickens me, that it now doesn't involve H & S.. No, its about money.. Scared of getting a law suit.. So, just in case... Cheers mate for pic! Memories of old! Rob

Oh noooooo! Oh so sad....that poor train. Why can't they take care of things the way they are supposed to and preserve them properly....though nowadays in bigger cities kids would have just trashed it with paintings and whatever if the fence was not there....but sheesh. So sad. I am sorry to see this beauty end up like this. Politicians say allot more than they do thats for sure.

There used to be this old Air Force jet along 19th Ave in San Francisco for the kids to play on. "They" decided it was toxic and all of a sudden it was gone. I think gone is better than that horrible fence. Talk about unclear on the concept!!
