Description

Lake Jackson (New camera) Crossing the parking lot at a boat ramp. It doesn’t say in the book if it’s venomous or not, but when I walked in front of it to get a picture of it coming at me. It turned and went back into the tall grass and shrubs it came out of. Hope you all enjoy and please zoom. Thanks for the comments.

These guys do move fast in the water...I'll bet he/she loves hot concrete too. Just read where most water snakes are harmless...but not all, so still very smart to avoid direct contact with them. Nothing new for me there...

Fantastic capture of this snake. Not worth it to find out how aggressive they are. Like the pattern of the scales. Dana

They look a lot like our Northern water snakes. I don't know if the southern ones are any friendlier, but the Northern ones can be very nasty. Not venomous, but can still deliver a good bite. Crikey they're naughty! LOL.

Well it looks great in this capture but I wouldn't like to test if it is venomous or not.

They aren't venomous but like boas and anaconda, their mouths are filled with bacteria and a bite will usually flair up with infection. They are not aggressive as a rule but they will bite if taunted. Sacramento has many of these in our wetlands. Great shot of this one. He might have made a nice hatband. LOL
