Description

Hi there. About 10 days in the past I saw ball-like things on the gutter in our garden. I went closer and there where many, many spider-babies. I never saw such balls of spiders and think some of you also don't... Have a great weekend my friends, next week I will post some of the new creatures captured on the last weekend walks.

Excellent spider ball! I have seen this only once and did not have a good camera then. I do remember vibrating the web a bit and they immediately expanded outwards from the ball or else they were already scattered and immediately went back into the center of the ball. I just cannot remember which it was. It was fascinating!

I had a yellow Volvo once and a ball of these attached to the wing mirror next to the door. They went everywhere with me for a few days!

I always am amazed to see spider babies when they emerge like this. And then, in no time, they are making little glider threads and riding the wind to all corners of the yard. Fabulous shot.

Cool capture. It is my experience that spiders make lots of babies at a time, lol. As MrsLubner says, it will not take long before they throw out silk threads and float away on the wind. I have never seen this species before and they are quite colorful. Thanks for sharing. Lee
