Hi everybody,
My name is Dana Pommet and my wife’s name is Josephine. I was born in Gloucester, Massachusetts, in 1942, and except for a tour in the Navy, lived there for most of my life. I retired to Delray Beach, Florida in December 2000. We love to travel and photography goes hand and hand with that. I went digital about 5 years ago and started posting November 22, 2008. I have met so many wonderful people on RR and that makes this whole process so much more interesting than just posting photos. Thanks for all the comments and keep them coming.
Update  January 2012: After hiding and denying my mild Dyslexia, for most of my professional life, and now fighting with its advancement – I want to thank you all for putting up with my poor typing skills and spelling problems. I know that my spell checker hates me and I now depend completely on audio books rather then actually reading printed books.  Life marches on!  Â

Great shot, Dana. I was just in Monterey this last weekend and it was beautiful as always.

Oh, a place I have ALWAYS wanted to see!! Hmm...so the 17 Mile Drive is a bit under 10...makes me wonder about the 13 Mile Woods in northern NH now! LOL...maybe we'll have to check it out again when we go camping in September!

Beautiful capture. When I first moved to the great Pacific Northwest approx. 26 years ago, we had a 24 ft. travel trailer in tow and did the coast road from Moro Bay up through Carmel and on to San Jose I believe then crossed over to I-5. Absolutely breathtaking views but I don't think I was ever so scared driving the longest "10" miles in my life. Someday maybe I'll returns sans the travel trailer to really enjoy it. Thanks for sharing.

Beautiful shot of what I agree is the prettiest point along this wonderful drive!

Wonderful shot! makes me think that 3 Mile Island may not have been 3 miles? maybe it was 1 and 3/4 miles....

This iconic tree has been there for SO long. I love that drive, just made it not too long ago!!

OMG, I was there during my first honeymoon, many, many decades ago! Outstanding clarity, texture and lighting to bring out the rough and raw cragginess of it all, Dana!

I love that drive, and this tree; last time I was there people had herds of deer grazing in the iceplant and ivy growing in their front yards! Beautiful capture!

I love the misty feel of this shot! It is also reminiscent of a Japanese image with their bonsai effects. I see they have done a lot of work to assure the survival of this tree.

Classic. What will happen when that old tree finally is no more? Hopefully, it will outlive us all:)

If this pic was taken early 80's, I wonder what the tree is like now? Beautiful capture!!!

It's such a gorgeous tree set on a throne overlooking the pacific. Fantastic shot.

I have never seen this tree. The only time I visited the place I was on a motorcycle and they wouldn't let me in. The Pacific Grove is much nicer. So many trees and all for free. Beautiful, classic shot. Maybe I'll stop by on my trip this summer.
