My name is Tara, and I was born and raised in Washington State.
Â
In 2010 I married Bill (bmac62) and retired ... two of the best choices I ever made! :)
Â
In March, 2013, we sold our home in Washington and went on the road in our RV full time. What a blast! There is so much world out there to see!
After traveling around the West for a few years, we got rid of the motorhome and are now spending winters in deep-south Texas and summers in Washington State. Spring and fall finds us visiting whichever place strikes our fancy at the time!

If I’m missing from Renderosity from time to time, I’m busy having fun elsewhere.

I knew an artist once who painted an abstract very similar to this. I love the mist. It softens and abstracts everything.

Wonderful mood here Tara and I am realy surprised you had no intention to be a photographer. You have a great sense to see what we might pass and that is something to behold. Happy 1300th...lol.

Love the hint of green among the mist. Congratulations on 1300...so, if there is more than 1100 photos, the rest must be split between the Writer's, the 2D and the 3D (Blender) Galleries. Mighty glad we in the Photography Gallery get the lion's share of your attention:-) Excellent...I know I keep learning from you...you've got "the eye". :*

Dreamy, beautiful capture Tara! Another awesome scene from Wash. State and another of the things I miss from there. This reminds me of early morning fishing trips, camping and all the friends/family that I shared those times with. Congratulations on your 1300th and your 3 plus years here. You are among those who constantly inspire me, thank you!

I was once told that Birches are a very patriotic tree for Russia; that was when I first learned of arboreal patriotism. I thought of that, because whenever I see Birch trees, I think of Russia; and to top it off, there's water in this shot, as well as mist...hmmm...wonder if there are any wandering bears in there too? Are there bears in the Pacific Northwest, outside of zoos? Well, anyway, this is an amazing, nicely moody shot! I love the birchbark (you can make sandals out of that stuff) and the wisps of green in the leaves. What a perfect way to mark 1300. Funny how photography creeps into your bloodstream too! It's just one of those little fun surprises in life that keeps everything interesting. I think it's an easy way to learn how to see differently, and once you've seen the world in a different way, it's just so much fun to keep seeing it that way. Photography is one of the best ways to do that! Of course, any art allows that, but there's just something about photography, about capturing reality and turning it into something else! And this is a perfect, deliciously rich example. Congratulations on 1300, and as you know I'm looking forward to your next 1300 posts, and the 1300 more after those!

You've really done a lot with misty light, hazes, soft landscapes, etc, in the last months, and you're taking to it with the same ease that you've taken to reflections & flower closeups & portraits, etc. This is a very strong capture of the mist & whisper of a grove, about light as much as object, and it feels like a call as much as a photo. (A call to us, an inner call...you know what I mean, I assume...) A very delicate capture. And because you have what appears to be a kind of "bunching" of the trees (ie, in a clump), it's almost a group portrait. (I mean that in the best sense, not being silly.) I've seen big birch forests in Maine, and I know how they stand out in those white endless rows, and how the white seems almost like whitewalls on cars, it's so classy & so just 'there'. Very sensitive piece, Tara. And as for 1300, you've shown so much diversity in your gallery, you've given us fabric, and paintings, and all your digital paintings, and all your many photographic subjects (some mentioned above)---some of them in areas you repeat again & again, some of them even one of a kind---and they're all mixed with your sense of constant wonder and joy, and with that ease that makes you the amazing person you are, ie, easeful & sure & solid as the earth itself. And of course your ever-present humor. And I don't want to leave out your deep personal journeys (like the mina piece), and your cityscapes, ANNNNND your poetry! Can't leave that out, that's a whole other side to your art. So congratulations on a terrific gallery, and on your presence here, with the love you give and the friendship you've offered so many places. You're really an institution. (Do you have hours & guards & do you charge a fee, lol?) I wish you many many more in this terrific gallery of yours. Very quiet gentle image to celebrate it too...

This is beautiful, Tara, and an excellent 1300th post. I love the softness that you've captured.

Wonderful moody shot, I never thought of Birch trees being a rain forest. Congratulations on the 1300 pictures.
