Description

I found this background on an old computer. It was a test render I made about a year ago to check out some new grass from aisleFX. I found it this weekend and thought of this. Nothing fancy, but I really like the colors and lighting. Hope you enjoy it. Thank you so much for the kind words about my last picture "Salt Marsh". I appreciate it very much. The grass is from aisleFX, the Bison from Daz and the atmosphere from Geek at Play.

This is a very emotional and beautiful piece. I love the lighting. The silhouettes of the bison and the tree are very lonely against the wide open desolation around them. The detail and contrast of the rocks and scrubs in the foreground are excellently done and absolutely stunning on zoom! The composition, with the darkly shaded area in the front, the skeletal tree on the left, the strong focus of the bison, and the long empty line of the horizon is stunning. The horizon is perfect in its simplicity, as it gives the impression that this devastation goes on, and on, and on. I recommend everyone to look at this on zoom. The color and light is superb! I love it!

I like this, Patty.  I actually like it quite a lot. Not in content or treatment, but in certain ways this reminds me of your Owl.  I think that this reflective aspect has to do with the mood of the two works.  Looking at this scene gives me a sense of calm and stability.  It is the same with your owl on his night watch. The composition is wonderful.  Were this solely the single figure on the plain, a forsaken feeling would haunt the scene.  With our perspective looking out over the ridge we see him as an element of the landscpae itself, perhaps even an essential one. I really luv' the shadowcraft within the foreground.  The dramatic look supports the "late day" feeling of the scene and the mystery in seeing only his silhouette.  We want to see more of his features ... but we may not.  Such full knowledge of this being has been lost to us.  All we may experience now is a passing shadow of the spirt that once made the plains rumble as it passed in vast herds. Beautiful work. Terry

Very nice job on this scene. It really resembles the wide open range like somewhere in South Dakota where my Grandfather was born. His mom was full blooded Sioux Indian. Excellent artwork!

Beautiful and exquisite a true artistic image. As usual in this high quality renderings it is the foreground that is most important,in contrast and detail.
