Description

This was the view, outside my living room window, in the late 1970s and early 1980s. The church in the foreground, was in the process of being repainted and during that process, the painters burned down the church, by using blow torches to burn off the paint instead of scraping off the old paint. The sad part – the building to the right – was Gloucester, Massachusetts’, Central fire station. This day, the new steeple was added, to complete the rebuilding process. That evening, we were treated to this sunset. This photo was taken from my third floor apartment window (approximately 30 years ago) and scanned yesterday. Amazing sky. It's positively sci-fi looking. Sad story, stupid painters. Must be wonderful to see this shot again after 30 years. It's a very cool scene.
