Description

The gardens of Muncaster Castle have hundreds of Acid loving plants. A massive collection of Rhododendrons, Azaleas, Japaneses Acers and Pieris species. This shot is a few of the first two groups, with some of these magnificent plants being 17 metre (50+ft) tall and covered with glorious blooms. Some very fragrant and heady also. A stunning treat for any plant lover. Lakeland's soil is ideal for these types, and Muncaster's woodland cover also means many less hardy species grow to make huge specimins.
