Description

This shot of Stonehenge was taken 5 weeks ago from a coach window. Today is the day for the longest period of daylight for the Northern hemisphere and when our world will start to tilt back the other way into winter. Aproximately 20,000 people were here this morning to witness the sun rise and what a lovely morning they have had.

Great to see this.. so are you able to actually get up to touch it, I notice most of the crowd seems to be standing back, like there is a barricade keeping them back.

Unico problema : l'estate e' stata avvisata dell'inizio ? Ho paura sia un po' distratta ! Ottimo scatto , una bella immagine , un bel ricordo poi ! Only problem: the summer has been advised of the beginning? I'm afraid is a bit distracted! Excellent shot, beautiful image, a good memory later!

Something so spectacular must be mind-boggling - to see in real life and as a bonus at Summer Solstice time. You really did it justice Jeff, (20.000 in one morning - WOW !) remarkable and unforgettable image, BB

During Easter break in 1973, I went to England. Stonehenge was not part of the tour, and I wanted to go so badly. Luckily for me so did others of the group and on our one day that was not planned, we took a bus from London. I remember the bus coming over a hill and there it was. I loved Stonehenge and this was when the public could still walk among the stones. Magical. Beautiful image! It looks like one of the slides I bought. I only had a very little box camera at the time. Sadly this slide has since faded to red. It's lovely to see it and at such a special time!

lots of magic in between the pixels... the grazing sheep add their portion of mystery as well. great capture!

Up until 1985 when everyone was banned from going to the stones, my friends and I always celebrated both the summer and winter solstice amid these wonderful stones. I think it is long past a time for another visit... ^=^ Lovely, evocative, image.
