Description
The access into the South permit area of the Coyote buttes takes you up onto the Paria plateau. From there one works there way north on extremely sandy 4 wheel drive road. Be sure you can handle such terrain as it is about 1800 dollars to get towed out.
The Paria plateau has been used by cattlemen primarily the last couple centuries. Along the route a homestead called Poverty flat, not a residence anymore, but the water rights are still used today for the cattle. Around Poverty flat there are several patches of small outcroppings like this one. This particular rock outcropping not only shows of some color but boasts an arch as well.

Ah! What a beautifully sculptured shape! Wonderful colors and layers! I like the sand mingling with the layers at the bottom. It reminds me of the integration of these wonderful outcroppings with the land around them. Excellent shot!
