I am a Kiwi artist from Aotearoa New Zealand. I make beautiful fractals BIO There is really not a lot to say. I specialise in representational fractal art, including portraits of people which I make for individuals. There is also a liberal scattering of abstract work. Much of my work looks very 'unfractal like', and much is in fact, indistinguishable from other artforms displayed
Â
But make no mistake. Digitalk ar, and fractal art in particular is Fine Art.Â
Â
My experiences with prissy gallery owners, agents, and other hangers on, has been abrasive to say the least. If you stick on a bit of wool with super glue, that makes it mixed media--which is acceptable; if you stick a photo in somewhere, that's also acceptable...as photograqphy. GRRRRRR
Â
I have several times been invited to contribute works for gallery shows. There were three invitations: The first two were withdrawn when they found out I was a digital artist. The third didn't bother to reply to my6 emails telling them what kind of art i do.
Then there was the locally sponsered art show. They accepted my entry fee then 'forgot' to hang the works.
Â
So What I do Is FINE ART. OK??

(((((((((MERREN))))))))) I've just now found this! And a whole day late? Are you kidding me? I spent most of last evening oblivious to all else here, except for writing to you, positively determined to catch up after time has relentlessly ticked on between us. So, I only just arrived here in this place. Refused to sleep til I'd put words and thoughts onto a page for you though. And more to come very soon. I am SO very sorry to have not made my way here before now, Merr! My sincerest apologies that this went unattended for even a minute! MIND?! Mind??? For anyone who even fleetingly questioned that I might somehow mind...let's be clear...I totally ADORE it!!! :) It's deep, dark, and so entirely beautiful! And, greater than that, it's of YOUR heart and hand, Merren. I'm honored that it bears my name anywhere in association with it! Yes, you are not wrong again. (Here we go again..grin). And here, you have harnessed it...EXACTLY! You blow my mind every time you manage this. You already know full well, that I know and recognize this image! Took you no time at all to hone in on it either..lol. But, I also realized that would likely be the case. (Oh my, but this must all sound so cryptic for others, from the outside looking in...but I know...and you know..and that's all that matters.) And so, this particular sinister force can bring nothing but joy, peace, warmth, and a great deal of love and respect, for exactly what I feel the offering and creation of this imagery conveys between us. There aren't any words for that. Then again, I love that we can speak these fathoms, nearly in the absence of words at all. I go and give you some bare-boned increments and outlines, and you paint, in full, the perfect picture of everything that fills between the lines and tells the whole story!!! I'd say I'm amazed..but truth is that I've seen you do it too many times, and you obviously haven't missed a beat, despite time or momentary separations. And THAT soothes my heart and spirit on a level I can't even begin to describe, just as YOU do, Merren! This echoes energy inflicted, and things of affliction, but importantly, minus any sense of victimization. Perfect again! The eyes though...you're also right on this. They still watch, stealthing, and in the shadows. That part I will never accept. It is almost dishonest. (No, no...not the image...the source!) Ahh, but after all, darkness has to exist. Without it, there'd be no balance at all..and certainly no honest appreciation for the light. Besides, those dark forces get viewed in a far more pragmatic light with age and a little imparted wisdom, eh? Now, feet planted while standing quietly in the center, bearing a mirror facing outward, and without active ill intent, we'll simply continue to will this right back to its origin...hahaha. (And there you have it! ;) Oh..yes, I know well your propensity for the dark side of fractals! And, in fact, it's always been something I've totally embraced with open arms. I cannot help but share that particular passion. But, never will I be the conduit that you are, my sweet friend! You're a force to be reckoned with, and the ruling mistress of the fractal dark side!! LOL! Long may you reign!!! And too, you have never been fearful, afraid to face forboding square in the damned eye. Stoic, firm, grounded, and always telling it how it is, both in life, and in art. There IS no more honest or extraordinary place than that. It is real. And it is palpable and breathing! It's part of the reason I cherish both you, and your work! :) Oh, Merr...tons of exclamation points to punctuate emotion in this response. But, every one entirely necessary as far as I'm concerned. Thank you, Merr...from the very depths of me!!! An enormous, long, soulful embrace, my heart to yours!
