I first discovered photography at the age of 8or 9 when i was given an old box brownie and after a couple of years I progressed to a Kodak folding camera I remember it took a size 127 film.
My father built me a dark room in the loft and I spent many hours learning about processing and printing my films, both black and white and colour. when marrige and family came along time for the processing side of photography had to take a back seat.  After 50 years working we retired to Chard in Somerset southwest England (we think it could be the best part of the world). About 3 years ago we got into digital photography , recently my son Ian who has a site on renderosity (iambrose) talked me into joining, I am so glad he did as it's so nice to read the comments and see how other people view your pictures.Â

This is so special and stunning to see. Love it, Wally. That flowers on the wall, great!

Just a couple suggestions.... since the sky is washed out and there is an unwanted person in the pic, I would crop it right there at the top of the center bush and at the bottom taking out the small patch of grass. This would focus your attention on the stairs itself and all the beautiful vegetation growing there. If you have a program that you can use to up the saturation of the colors, it would pull some of the pinks and purples out too. It's a very beautiful place!

I can see the merit of bentchick's suggestions to focus attention on the steps, but I like the line of the wall and wouldn't want to lose it. For that same reason I might cut and paste out the lady. Beautiful place and capture! Wonderful detail! I love the sprinkling of flowers. I looked up listing on the Internet. Very interesting. I wish we did more of that over here on this side of the pond. Of course the criteria of being 'old' would have to be changed to 'oldish' in most cases.
