Description
It's been a while since I've had a chance to do much art due to Life being more chaotic than usual. We moved, then there was the end-of-school year chaos, to be followed by summer chaos. Then just last week, my father-in-law passed away suddenly, a great loss to all of us of a very good man & long-time Boy Scout.
But not all has been bad. A few months ago, for my birthday, I got a laptop, my first computer made this century. Which meant I could use the latest version of Daz Studio, instead of 2.3. So now my kids have my aged desktop, which may have been used by Noah on the Ark. Yes, it still has Daz 2.3 on it & our teenaged son uses it. Among other things, he's made his own Star Wars themed avatar for a message board & entered a piece in a contest for the updoming MMO Star Wars game.
Meanwhile, off & on since March, I've been learning Daz 3.x, with as usual, lots of advice from Spacer_01. And I've followed all of it--yes, even about how to set up content files. Something he tried to get me to do way last summer when he first introduced me to Daz & 3d art. Yes, it has made finding my content a lot easier.
I've got a couple pieces in various stages. This is the only 1 I've finished. (Excepting a simple render of Lisa's Botanicals hydrangeas for a flyer.) This piece I did for our minister, departing this week for a new church, as is usual in the Methodist denomination. She loves to use slide shows, mainly in contemporary services & I did this as a possible slide. It is a Palm Sunday (aka Passion Sunday)-inspired scene, but a little different. These varied modern folk are decorating for Jesus' triumphal entry into the city. But instead of Jerusalem, this is a parking lot or back entrance to an older church, in an older, not-so-wealthy part of a 21st Century city. The little kid, in the fanciful way of youngsters, thinks she sees the Christ coming down that street, riding a donkey. And maybe she does...
My signature is the only postwork.

Lovely work! Nice interpretation of the theme, with a modern view :) The posing and expressions are great! Its been too hot lately to be online for more than checking email (need to get the A/C installed).

Thank you. I spent the better part of a day working on this one. For the poses, I started with standard ones for the figures & then changed parts of the body--such as the blonde little girl's pointing finger & the soldier moving his head to see what she is trying to show him. I also posed the boy's hands on the potted palm; his hand positions are far from perfect, however. In addition to being a present for someone who has meant a lot to me, I also tired out a few things in Daz--parenting potted palm to boy, using fit sliders with the Gloria hair. Daz's new Send in the Clones product was in my "Sounds neat but would I actually use it?" category. After scaling palm/scaling pot/putting palm in pot/positioning potted palm in image repeatedly, the answer is "Yes, I'd use this! Right now, in fact." :D

Adorable! Very nice work. Congrats on your new laptop, I hope we can expect to see some new scenes. I look forward to it.
