nice and interesting pic! i hsve seen bats flying in bright sunshine on spring mornings, i assumed it was because they needed to compensate for cold nights and fatten up for breeding...?

We have several large colonies of bats here and many living in our downtown area. We are told, if you see them during the day, they are most probably sick so avoid contact. They are a high risk for carrying rabies.

How did I miss this! I have seen bats fly only once in daylight and that was in Devon when at Berry Pomeroy castle. In that case it was a Pipistrelle. Apparently though, this species of bat will often fly during the day. Fantastic capture. ^=^
