Did you know a cat can be left or right pawed?
This is WC's front left paw. I love cat paws. How something can be so delicate yet so strong amazes me.
Their claws aid in climbing, scratching, etc. and the pads work like a shock absorber when landing.
The front paws have 5 toes each. (except for the Polydactyl which have up to 7)
There are 7 pads, 5 digital pads with claws including the dewclaw, one larger plantar pad in the middle of the paw which is made up of 3 lobes. Then there is a small wristpad called a pisiform.
When a cat is hot, it will sweat via their paws. there are glands between the toes. They lick their paws which help them to cool down.
So this may be just a photo of cat paw, but there is a lot more going on than meets the eye.

What a squidgy paw, so pink & beautiful. I always am amazed at dog & cats paws, they have to walk over all sorts of terrain & cope with hot & cold!!!!

My very FAVORITE part of a kitty!!! LOVE those pads! You know, I have had cats ever since I was four years old (will be 50 soon) and I never knew they sweated via their feet!! Awesome critters!!! Give WC a scritch under the chin for me!

Great info on cat's paws and they can instantly transform in to weapons with the claws out and spinning its wheels across your face. Ow! that hurt.

Oh I simply adore cat paws, and my cats each have different coloured paws. Mistapus paw pads are a blue gray colour, Freddie has pink paw pads just like yours here, and Amy's paw pads are as black as the darkest of nights. Just love them all, this is a fabulous shot, and thanks for the info too. hugs Jane xx
