Make the mesh editable, mark the polys you want to attach the texture to, make a selection. Doubleclick the selection and name it something. Then when you drag the texture to your mash, in the texture window wright the name of your selection where it says "restrict to selection". Good luck :)))

Hmm??? here is a quick tip!! 1.in object menu.select all object that make the ship/or just the out side hull. 2.select copy.use the copy feature to make a duplicate of the items that you have highlited in the object menu.your new copy will now be on screen and will be highlighted in your object menu.... 3.Now! select Action.select Scale Active Element...(make the active element slightly large than the original size. 4.Now! go-to material manager...create new material..click and drag the new material up to your highlighted copied object in the object manager..Now! add new material... 5.double click the new material in the material manager box.. select transparency box in the properties box..you can play around with it or even give it a transarent 3d shader... 6.for a quicker fix just load the glass file in c4d and put it in the new material slot... 7.Walla!! a force field!!
