Brad Pitt and I share the exact same birthday (month, day, year) outside of that, our stories diverge considerably. Mr. Pitt went on to become an internationally famous superstar, while I have led the much more interesting life of the starving artist. I come from a long line of storytellers (whose gift for gab stretches back through the mists of time to our native Ireland) and professional malcontents who were seemingly born to create something in the arts, be it music, writing, sculpture, painting, or photography. I started writing at age 12 with a screenplay with my cousin Ryan about a planet where everyone looked like Elton John entitled "Don't I Know You?" More screenplays followed, several of which received epic Super-8 production with budgets that sometimes ran up to $10. A few even had sound!  More writing followed: songs, poems, short stories, numerous unfinished novels, etc.. Somewhere in there was an attempt at being a rock star...
Still living at home, at age 22, my father dropped an elderly Nikromatt 35-mm film camera into my lap, in the hopes that I would "make a go of it" as a photojournalist. That didn't happen, but I did develop an abiding love of photography that along with writing and archival work have been among the chief passions of my life. When it comes to my photography, I try to be as creative as possible while at the same time striving for a documentary/archival quality. The only set rules I adhere to, when it comes to making pictures are: 1.) Try not to make the picture blurry, and 2.) Don't drop the camera.

great shot.. love the lights.

Of course Chip would be there, probably crawling around UNDER those benches somewhere!! This is great, the light and shine are awesome!!

Ah, so this is where the neon man hangs out on most evenings - see the comments for Chipka's most recent post for what I mean by that. This is spectacular how the city (probably) sodium lights bounce off of the reflective surfaces of the benches and glass. Night time shots always have a pristine otherworldly feel that I can not quite describe in any other way. Lovely work.

Sweet shot...Like this a lot!!

That's okay ... it requires no explanation! Fabulous pov, great light, good mood. Looks like the middle of the night and everyone else is asleep. Those benches are a perfect reflector as well as a measurement of perspective. Excellent stuff, my friend!

A really superb pic! Everything looks so clean and shiny..amazing in a city shot!

I'm supposed to be sleeping as I have to wake up at an ungodly hour (exactly one hour from the posting of this comment) but I'm awake instead, bored stiff and restless: paradoxically so! Ah, but that's normal. Anyway...WOW! I love the way this shot turned out, and I find it hilarious that you and I actually got the same shot--give or take a foot along that line of benches. The POV is what really draws me in and into this picture. Funny that you mentioned me doing that spin thing. I believe the technical term for that is the Drunken Demented Dervish Maneuver #1 (clockwise.) But anyway...enough of that. What a shot! What clarity! I like this.

Interesting shot!

Oh it speaks for itself Corey! What a wonderful nightshot. What I like most about it is the golden glow on the benches! Great POV!!!

Outstanding depth. I really like this.

I really like this shot. Like the end of an extra long day when everyone else is already at home and you're still waiting for the train.

TERRIFIC EFFECT OF THE LIGHTS ON THE METAL BENCHES. IT LOOKS A POP SCULPTURE! GREAT WORK

I always struggle with nightime photography, so I particularly admire this! I really like the POV you chose, which gives great depth to the image along that endless row of benches. And the light and reflections are just intense!

Great job Corey. Congrats on being selected for LWITG. Kudos to you and Chip for getting out after dark and taking these fascinating night shots. I am always inspired to do this type of image taking until I ask myself...night shots? ...or put my feet up and stay home? You've taken advantage of so much ambient light...and your POV makes the shot for me.

I love this! Wonderful streaks of light running along the benches! Excellent depth and composition! I love the bold presence of the benches and the ghostly presence of the glass area (bus stop?). The trees are fortuitously placed too, as they accentuate the bench. Love the way it goes into a blaze of light, adding to the impetus for the viewer to get pulled deeply into the image! Like others have said, no explanation needed. I quite enjoyed the mental image of Chip spinning around though.
