Description

Today I start my new mini-series: The Goddess’s Of Olympus For those not up on Greek and Roman Mythology I will give a brief history of the Gods. The Titans who were also known as the Elder Gods were known for untold ages as supreme in the universe. There were many of them but few appear in stories. The most important was Cronus or Saturn ( in Latin ). He ruled over the other Titans until his son, Zeus dethroned him and seized the power for himself. The Romans said that when Jupiter, ( Their name for Zeus ) ascended the throne, Saturn fled to Italy and brought in the Golden age. The other Titans were either banished or took a lower place ( I may do a series on them sometime ). There were now Twelve great Olympians and were supreme among the Gods who succeeded the Titans. Of these twelve, I will be featuring the five Goddess. The first is Hera. Wife and sister of Zeus. She was known as the Protector Of Marriage. She was the Goddess married woman would turn to for help. She also appears in one story ( The Quest for the Golden Fleece ) as the protector of heroes.
