I recently went on a trip to San Francisco. The amount of homeless was shocking. Maybe I'm just not "worldly" enough but coming from Wyoming, this was really an eye opener. Not the best quality pic but I wasn't really going for anything but honesty. Thanks for looking. :)

I agree with you . you should see the amount of homeless kids wandering around. just look down any alley in Berkeley.... you will find a group of them, safety in numbers.

San Fran (and the whole Bay Area) has a huge homeless problem and is largely unwilling to deal with it. I always thought it odd in a city and region that touts itself as being socially ahead of us benighted souls in the rest of the country. Despite all the pulpit thumping about human rights and the latest cause du jour, the bottom line is San Fran, Berkeley, Santa Cruz and the rest are too cheap to spend the money to help these people break the addictions (it's almost always drugs) and stand on their own feet, and they're too scared about riling lobby groups to send the police to bust the dealers and the prostitutes (most of whom are homeless or prey on the homeless). Oh dear, I've gone and opened a political discussion, haven't I? Sorry, but the rampant hypocrisy was one motivation for leaving the Bay Area. Thanks for opening some eyes.
