Description
I've been trying to wrap my brain around terrain shaders and the realistic sky settings while trying to learn something and turn out a render that is not horrible to look at. Now that's one heck of a run-on sentence. This is what I have so far. It's far from realistic, and any tips you can give are welcome. I know of a few things I could do to help it out, and will continue to work on it.

Thanks. I am still trying to figure it out as well. It's a whole different animal than Poser, which I am semi-ok with.

No knowledge of Carrara myself ,times all consumed in Bryce but what I can say is you seem to be going in the right direction as far as choices being made thus far.Go with your gut feeling and natural instincts. They usually go hand in hand. Nothing horrible about this attempt(smile) William

Thanks for the comments. I know I need to tone down the rock texture showing through so it doesn't look like red clay here in the south. I will also be playing with volumetric clouds at some point. I think that if I add some plants to the foreground terrain that it would look better as well. I am also playing with the idea of putting a boat in the foreground as well to help show thew scale of the mountains better.
