Description
Julia and I drove a large section of Florida's coastal Gulf of Mexico last weekend. We started out way ahead of the oil slick, and ended up right in it.
We began in a picturesque little northern gulf coast town called Carrabelle. This area is known as the "Forgotten Coast", and is my favorite part of the Gulf Coast, although a long ways from my hometown of Pensacola.
There was no sign of an oil spill there; things are functioning normally for late June. While they have tourists, there are no water parks and the kind of overdevelopment crap that has destroyed much of the coastal region elsewhere. The old thyme feel of the local scene is pretty much the same as it's always been. At least for now.
This is at a place called Alligator Point. There was a full moon last weekend and the locals make full use of it. Considering it was so hot during the day I can understand why they'd perfer sailing at night.
Thanks for stopping by,
marshall

breathtaking shot! You picked the perfect moment - for lighting, for composition, for mood.

I want to go... being on the water at night is always a pleasure but this looks like it was an exceptionally beautiful evening for the adventure. Ahhh. My soul feels a little better just looking at it. :-)
