Hi, I'm Marilyn. Â I've been posting here on RR for a few years now and thought it was time to update my profile. Â It's been wonderful learning so much from the amazingly talented people here. Â I've had the chance to meet many in person and some have become great and good friends. Â Starting with a Kodak Brownie camera when I was about 7 or 8, moving up to Instamatics, Polaroids, then the Pentax K1000 that really got me on the way, I've been looking at the world thru a lens for a long time. Â Got the bug honestly; my dad was a photographer and gave me the gene!! Â Digital changed the world and I jumped in with both feet. Â You would've gone thru 100's of rolls of film in one day the way we can shoot and delete all day long. Â Progess...it can be awesome sometimes.
At any rate, RR rocks, the talent is over the top and I'm just gonna keep on shooting!!
Thanks for looking and keep those cameras rollin'!!
peace.....marilyn

I know that road well myownself...been over it in every kind of weather condition, every time of day. And I agree, Multnomah Falls is a must-see. You should extend your trip and check out all the great stuff around Portland! It's been a lot of years since I lived there, but I loved it and the memories remain...

I could tell you stories about traveling Grapevine...oh, yes... stories. I've done it at all hours, all seasons and all weather. From from hitting the top just as it freezes to eating an 18-wheelers mudflaps as they tear away in the gale-force winds and send the bar they were attached to through my gas tank. That one was scary and required a mountain top rescue. Grapevine is a place of adventure and I've never topped it without some adventure.

OMG, the movie, 2001, A Space Odyssey, reprised in this fantastic foto with the awesome and never ending perspective, Maz! Beautiful colors in them thar hills, also! I've driven the route many times in the past, but not lately, mainly because I hate the traffic just getting there. And, I'm surprised you had such a wonderful time when you were down here, considering the rude overpopulation.

LOL @ goodoleboy! This does actually have quite a Stanley Kubrick vibe to it, and all I need is to hear Gyorgy Ligetti's "Atmospheres" playing (distorted) as the soundtrack. This is a really great shot though, I love the way it just zooms on and on forever with those hills looming up at an unexpected, but totally logical angle over there. Great colors too! I like the warm/cool contrasts and the grainy texture you caught in the road itself. Yeah, this is great!

Oh man ... every time I've been over the Grapevine it's been hotter than heck. This has that vibe. Nicely done!
