I am 58 years young, live in Johannesburg, South Africa and I'm a true product of my continent. I love the bush, the animals, sunshine, sunsets - oh well, anything to do with nature. I am unmarried and have three sons - 37, 33 and 30 respectively and three granddaugters aged 12, 6 and 4 respectively and obviously the light of my life! Photography has always been a passion and I have loved it since I can remember. I was still using a SLR camera and only switched to digital only in late 2007! My other passion is travel and I have been lucky enough to have travelled fairly widely. There are however still many, many places I would love to visit "one day." I am truly an amateur photographer and do it merely as a hobby. So please be gentle when you comment on my work. :-) Thank you Piet, my dear friend, for convincing me to place my work on Renderosity. You owe me one! Hugs, Carin xx

Outstanding capture Carin.

It's beautiful against the blue sky; what I really like, however, is that wrinkle in the fronds (like a pillow wrinkle!) that follows the curve of the shape of it. Nicely done!

The light really brings the cool geometry of the frond to life!

I'm fond of fronds, and you did an excellent job with the POV and lighting effects in this shot, which also conveys the feeling of a handheld fan, Carin!

Well seen, good composition!

Wonderful POV and lighting. Reminds me of the feathers of an exotic bird or an aboriginal headdress.

"Just" a palm tree??? With this light and sharp detail--it's WAY better than "Just"---it's simply beautiful!!

Wonderful! I had never heard of this palm plant. Cold weather... who would have ever thought a palm could survive the Himalayas? What a surprise.
auntietk
It must grow in some pretty sheltered places in the Himalaya! Or maybe they have long winters there like yours ... you know ... five weeks or whatever. :P LOL! If they lived through three months of cold weather, somebody would have surely introduced them here! Whatever their habits, this is a gorgeous shot! I love this sort of palm leaf, and your shot is beautiful!
