I totally agree with your message Evie. I hope you had a good 4Th of July. Fortunately.. I suspect this will be the last one as a big change will be coming very soon. As stated in "The Day the Earth Stood Still": If the Earth dies, then humans die with it. If Humans die first then the Earth will live. I sure hope it doesn't come to that. Watch the skies. Bravo and hugs from Dave :^)

This is a moving post that reminds me very much of the best Independence Day I experienced. It was in Prague, believe it or not. That celebration, like your image here, really put things into perspective. A bunch of American troops were in Prague on a bit of R&R...a bunch of guys who'd received wounds from roadside bombs and crap like that! They had no complaints except for one guy who said he had a "broke @$$" and that he was the leader of the Broke @$$ Platoon...he was (and is) a great guy who had no complaints about what he had to do in order to keep people safe. This image reminds me of those guys: they were all these kinda goofy, good-natured guys and when you looked at them, being all goofy and fun-loving, you realized that they were just somebody's kids: somebody's brothers, or cousins, or boyfriends or whatever...and when you experience something like that, overseas no less, you realize how HUMAN everybody on this planet is, and how these guys (and gals) get to a point where they're beyond "good vs. bad." When I was talking to them, especially the leader of the "Broke @$$ Platoon" he put something else into perspective. The real reason for Independence Day isn't fireworks and American nationalism. That could be a part of it, but the main point of the holiday is a reminder that everyone deserves independence and the leader of the Broke @$$ Platoon was doing his job and putting his life on the line, so that hopefully in the future, no one else would have to! I like that particular platoon for saying that, and I like this image and your text accompaniment because it's a reminder of what we all value. It's a reminder of how we need to insure Freedom, not by sending our brothers/sisters/best buddies off to war, but to be pro-active enough (globally) to elect global leaders who aren't going to use their power to keep everyone else in a bad situation. Thank you for that reminder, and for making me think of a bunch of goofy, cool guys who'd risked their lives as a part of their job and in defense of a very human principal.

I don't see davidoblad at rendo hardly anymore, so I had to read what he had to say, I think he was thinking Armagedon... People having wars gotta make ya wonder where we really are... there are wars going on that the public doesn't ever hear about. I worked with a Navy man for two years that ended up being discharged a couple years early and it messed with his retirement pay, but he told me from time to time he was in parts of the world that the government denies and I've really had an open mind over our military opperations. I saw a thing on 911 that makes you wonder how much our govenment knew and was in on it - I found the documentary on netflix, don't remember the name and I don't have netflix anymore. your message and the picture are heartwarming though.
