UPDATED: September 19, 2010
Hi, My name is Bill and I am updating my homepage to reflect a wonderful event in my life...marriage, September 18, 2010, to my best friend Tara...known to many of you as auntietk here on Renderosity.
We "met" shortly after I joined Renderosity in August 2008. We share a love for photography and indeed all types of art.
We live north of Seattle and enjoy getting to share photographic excursions and information with other Renderositians ( is "Renderositians" even a word? ). LOL
As for me, it seems like I've been taking pictures all my life but I didn't get serious enough to purchase my first Digital Single Lens Reflex (DSLR) camera until May 2008. In May 2009 I upgraded from an Olympus E-510 to an Olympus E-30 with a wide variety of lenses.
My subject areas of interest include absolutely everything but with a frequent return to airplanes, cars, tanks, etc., ...or as Tara says, machines that make lots of noise;-)
If you are curious, I am pictured above in a Grumman Corsair on a taxiway of the Kansas City Downtown Airport. I used to fly and train others to fly airplanes. That will explain my frequent forays into the world of aviation. Last but by no means least, thanks to Pannyhb for introducing me to Renderosity. The moment I saw it I was hooked.
Fine print: Yes, the photo above is a photo manipulation:-)

OMG! It's a man-eating cabbage! Good grief, that thing looks huge! You could make a year's worth of slaw with that thing! What a place that must be! Great photo, Bill!

I've seen cities smaller than this cabbage! That's gonna be a lot of Coleslaw! What a picture! I love the cabbage texture and the quality of light you caught! Those veins are amazing, but plants always have such amazing veins, don't they? The background digifiddling gives this a nice painted quality, especially since the dominant background color is a nice, warm red: the perfect compliment to the cabbage green in various shades. Nice. Quite nice! And it actually gets me to thinking of those late nights in Prague, when I'd go to a "non-stop" i.e. 24-hour kiosk and get the local version of what was supposed to be a hamburger; it was a pork patty, with shredded cabbage on top, garnished with ketchup and wedged between two vaguely chewy buns. Good stuff, especially after a night of consuming mass quantities of...well...more golden colored good stuff, though quite a lot of it was also clear and nicely chilled. I love it when photos evoke memories like that, and even without those memories evoked, this is a brilliant shot!

I LOVE this shot!! And it's because when I used to grow a big garden, I also had cabbages the size of VW bugs!! Cabbage loves fog, drizzly skies, and they never complain about being cold. They last and last, until you hope to never see another one. Kinda like zucchini, but much politer!!!

Wanna know my fav way of eating cabbage? You take a cabbage and cut it in quarters, cutting out the core. (This would be a normal size cabbage, btw.) You steam the cabbage until it's just cooked but still a bit crisp. While that's cooking, you take a cube of butter, melt it in a pan with some herbs, and saute a pound of mushrooms, maybe with a bit of balsamic vinegar for good measure. Then you take the cabbage and put it on a big plate with the outside leaf down. Pour a quarter of those mushrooms (with all that butter) over the cabbage so the butter seeps down between the cabbage leaves. Oh man ... that's some GOOD stuff!!
