Description

I have come to believe that the whole world is an enigma, a harmless enigma that is made terrible by our own mad attempt to interpret it as though it had an underlying truth.  And I began to question everything around me: the houses, the shop signs, the clouds in the sky, and the engravings in the library, asking them to tell me not their superficial story but another, deeper story, which they surely were hiding, but finally would reveal thanks to the principle of mystic resemblances. Perhaps the mission of those who love humanity is to make people laugh at the truth, to make truth laugh, because the only truth lies in learning to free ourselves from insane passion for the truth. -Umberto Eco
For everyone whose team did not reach the finals this weekend; if you're still feeling the spirit you can always pour your energies into your craft. Do let me know if you see anything!   ;-) Otherwise ... enjoy your weekend and may you be visited by a sweet and irresitible inspiration. With warmest regards, Terry

Very nice work. I like the quote also. I have always thought the most significant meaning to life is that it does not have to have any particular meaning to seem significant to us. :O)

Cool image! ;D Now I don't know much about da Vinci's codes - although I wish I did! ;D So, I'm reading the words...let me see if I got this right...nothing is as it seems, everything is an illusion. the world we live in is the one we have ourselves created... And I'm looking at the picture - first let me say its gorgeous! It is such a peaceful image...yet, she has that famous Mona Lisa smile! "I know something...can you find it???" And I think that she is obviously trying to convey something by the pose of her hands...And then it hit me...now I don't know if this is what you were trying to convey, but its what hit me like a ton of bricks... "As above, so below!" So, tell, tell! ;-D Until...

Like the Buddhists say: The world is an illusion. But there still is a world. We perceive it. We have senses tat tell us this and that. It is in the interpretation, that illusion comes in. The truth or "reality" or whatever it is we perceive is far beyond we are able to explain, even though scientists claim they can explain, but they live in as illusionary a world as we do. When I look at the picture I see a pretty woman, who is trying to explain something to somebody she believes beyond the ability to understand, but only because of your quotation. Without it I would probably just have seen a pretty girl with an interesting hand pose. Illusion? She is nothing but patterns of colored points behind a piece of plastic, which "experience" has told me to interpret as a pretty girl with an interesting hand pose, only dots of colored light...

Helleshoj: "She is nothing but patterns of colored points ... only dots of colored light..." The original name I had given to this gallery on the home pages was: Pixels That Look Like Us The intention was, pretty much, a synopsis of the curious and amusing paradox you describe. da Vinci's works are always playing with us, by intention or not, in the manner that they infer much yet reveal little.  Dancing with such puzzles, imagined or real, is always great sport. The secret of life is that there is no secret. A sweet image, she is very cute. And I've always liked my father's version; "He who knows but says he knows not, knows. He who knows not but says he knows is a snot nose." And thus ends Terry's first meeting of Philosophy 101. {;->

The Wyz: "I've always liked my father's version ..." :-D I like your father's version too.  He was definitely a classic Sag'. T.

Colour me shallow, but when I saw your image, besides thinking how sweet she looked, I couldn't help but wonder: "Oooooo, what bra is that???" Very, very NICE!

first the render is gorgeous, but aside of that,i am reading all the comments here and it gives me more and more to think, and maybe that was the intention of it, wake up and think and not wake up and lets rumble. both hands in the render seem to me like ying and yang. having been a somewhat wild fellow in my youth i am only now scratching to top of the iceberg about philosophy and afterlife ,and orbs...an...and... and i wonder why and what for and i am sure we will get the answers not here in this human shell, and i dont want to look desperately for the truth, but of course i ask myself questions over questions. the main question is why are the humans so ignorant beeing the top of the creation so to speak??..a lot for a sunday morning terry.but i will keep on thinking............. may the light shine on your paths brother.

Nice render. That alone is reason enough to stop by, without any of the deeper stuff. It's so easy to get lost in the world of secrets, hidden meanings, double entrendres and the like. Sometimes something is, just because it is. But since we're here... There are two secrets to life. 1.) Never reveal everything that you know.
