Little One is channeling John McEnroe, it seems... Is is just me or are file sizes starting to escalate to the point of being ridiculous? The item in question above is "Fashion V4" which, although thoroughly useful, shows utterly no restraint when it comes to megabytes. This is becoming a disturbing trend, I fear. I think there are two things to consider. First of all, while you CAN render a great looking poster-sized image, I think most people, around here at least, render screen-sized pictures. See that red shirt? That's a 2500 X 2500 texture map, and from this size, it looks like a solid color. Another thing to think about is high polygon counts. (Reminder that V4 has like five times as many polys as L.O., who looks totally jagged -- oh wait.) When it comes to clothes, I think there is this "need" to fit one garment to as many different shapes as possible. Face it, V4 and Girl 4 are REALLY differently shaped, so you need a lot of extra polys to make sure you have enough to morph to both properly. (I may be technically inaccurate here.) In addition, the sheer size of adding full-body morphs to a figure - essentially making a whole new copy of the garment twenty times over. So, what to do? On one hand, I do enjoy the versatility of One Size Fits All. It's just that it's getting really resource heavy around here. I guess my suggestion is a bit of "resolution sanity" when it comes to texture maps. I would be thrilled if things started coming with high-res and low-res textures both. (Bigger package, then...) Until then, I may go praise characters like Skye or Terai Yuki who have virtually no body morphs so file sizes can stay small. Okay, enough ranting.

Great commentary...I find even TB size drives filling at alarming rates with the goodies I try to capture. That coupled with quad core processing say that the envelop is being challenged for many a render. I am fortunate but I find it admirable that many out there will render for 12 to 24 hours to capture there work. Optimization is definitely called for

That's a high rez shirt??? cough I hate to say it but it looks kinda underwhelming for a 2500x2500 tex map. I'd like too see clothing come with injection morphs if they're going to load em with morphs, and lower rez texture options would be nice also.

It's the price we pay for wishing for versatility and morphability - while we want all these morph sizes, in truth, your average artists here, uses one size for their creations and those that do morph-OUT - present their handwork NAKED - bare assz'd! So yeah, one must question is all the extra LOSS of space really worth it? Thumbs up!
