Description
Cow Parsley (Anthriscus sylvestris)
"If you wish to pick cow parsley to eat, you really should know the difference between it and hemlock." So goes the first line on a *learn plant differences* site.
Slight understatement there, methinks! Cow parsley being tasty and Hemlock a guarantee of death!! When I first read it, I almost choked on my blueberry juice.
Personally, I wouldn't dream of gathering any member of the wild parsley family, as it includes some of the most poisonous plants there are and I don't trust myself to get it right. I do find them beautiful to look at and photograph though , especially from odd angles.
Down in the valley they are almost past their best now and are putting out seeds. Coming close on their tails is the handsome Hogweed, another rampant relative which also includes fennel, elder, giant hogweed and I believe Wild Carrot.
Thank you for taking the time to look. ^=^

I'm such a science fiction geek that it's occasionally embarrassing! When I first saw this, I imagined that it might have been a rather delicate, extravagant, and not-entirely-human communications array, erected to receive transmissions from some place like...oh, I don't know...Regulus, Wolf 359, or some other remote star. All of that aside though, it's a marvelous photograph and I love the POV. Those flowers are nicely delicate and I like their white coloration quite a lot. The shadows on the stems do draw my eye quite nicely, and I love the information you included. This is all-around-marvelous!
