I wonder if they applied mathematical Knot theory in the design of these exhausts or if they are just art? Either way it sure makes for an interesting piece of pipe as these headers are a fine exhample of the tube bender/fabricators art!! In mathematics, a knot is an embedding of a circle in 3-dimensional Euclidean space, R3, considered up to continuous deformations (isotopies). A crucial difference between the standard mathematical and conventional notions of a knot is that mathematical knots are closed, there are no ends to tie or untie on a mathematical knot.

I would almost bet that they were built this way for back pressure.. With an exaust that shot you need it, or else you would burn the valves up.. Excellent capture.
